Elect Pro Privacy Policy

Last updated: Oct 23, 2026 · Mountain Geeks Pvt Ltd · Effective date: [INSERT DATE]

1. Introduction

This policy describes how Mountain Geeks Pvt Ltd ("Mountain Geeks", "we", "us") collects, uses, stores, discloses and protects personal information through Elect Pro, including its web application, mobile app ElectConnect (Google Play and App Store), dashboards and reporting tools.

Elect Pro is a technology product of Mountain Geeks that may be demonstrated, licensed or provided to different customers, including candidates, elected representatives, campaign teams and other authorised entities. We do not identify any single party or candidate as the permanent customer.

Elect Pro is not a government service and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Election Commission of India. Nothing in it registers anyone to vote, changes an electoral roll or submits Form 6 or any official form.

3. Customers and responsibilities

A customer decides what information to collect, which people or areas to include, how records are used and who may access them, and may be responsible for those decisions. Mountain Geeks provides hosting, development, maintenance, security and support, and may also have independent responsibilities under law. Responsibilities are documented in each customer arrangement where required.

4. Information we may collect

  • Account information: name, mobile, WhatsApp and email; date of birth, age, gender, education and photo where provided; user ID, role, permissions and assigned work area; tasks, survey responses, points and team messages; login times and security logs. Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes.
  • Voter and electoral-area information: where a customer is authorised and the processing is lawful, name, age, voter ID (EPIC) number, relative's name, address, booth, ward, village or constituency, phone and WhatsApp number, household details, contact status and objections.
  • Demographic information (optional): occupation, education, caste category and caste. These fields are optional and may be left blank, and should be enabled only with a documented need, a legal basis and safeguards.
  • Political-support assessments (optional): the voter type field (supporter, against or neutral). These may reflect a worker's opinion, can be inaccurate, and must be handled transparently with restricted access.
  • Tasks, photos, location and permissions: Photos are used only when a user adds proof to a task. Location is used only while the map is open and never in the background. Notifications tell users about new tasks, surveys and messages. The app does not use the camera, microphone or contacts, and does not send SMS or make calls.
  • Technical information: app version, device and OS details, push tokens, error reports, access logs and security events.

5. Sources and purposes

Information comes from the customer, users who enter records, individuals themselves, electoral rolls the customer is authorised to use (including roll PDFs uploaded by administrators), service providers and technical logs.

We process it to administer accounts and roles, organise field tasks and surveys, maintain authorised records and avoid duplicates, manage contact preferences, send notifications and consented WhatsApp messages, produce reports, maintain security, provide support and meet legal obligations. Elect Pro does not use personal information for advertising or to decide anyone's eligibility to vote.

6. Notice and consent

Presence in an electoral roll, silence, or a worker entering details does not by itself mean consent to calls, SMS, WhatsApp or other campaign messages. In ElectConnect, a worker cannot save a voter's details until they confirm that the voter agreed to share them, including caste and voter type, and knows they can ask for correction or deletion. This is confirmed again on every edit. Workers must explain who they represent and what will be recorded, and must not save details of anyone who refuses. Requests to stop contact are recorded and respected.

7. Sharing and service providers

Information may be shared only where the law and the service arrangement allow: with the customer, authorised administrators and workers (workers see only voters in their own booth), Mountain Geeks staff who need access, service providers, and public authorities where required. One customer's records are never opened to another. We do not authorise the sale of personal information.

  • [HOSTING PROVIDER, e.g. Amazon Web Services]: hosts servers, database and backups
  • Google Firebase Cloud Messaging: delivers push notifications (push token, notification text)
  • Expo (650 Industries, Inc.): delivers push notifications to the app
  • RapBooster: sends WhatsApp messages on the customer's behalf (name, phone, message text, attachments)
  • Google (Gemini API): reads electoral-roll PDFs uploaded by administrators for import

Some providers (Firebase, Expo, Gemini) may process data outside India.

8. Security and retention

Measures include role-based access, hashed passwords and signed session tokens, encryption in transit, restricted production access, logging, backups, vulnerability management and incident response. No online system is absolutely secure; we will notify affected individuals and the Data Protection Board of India where required.

Information is kept only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose, the service arrangement and legal obligations, then deleted, anonymised or handled as the law and agreement require. Backups remain until their normal expiry.

9. Your rights, account deletion and children

You may ask the relevant customer or Mountain Geeks for access, correction, deletion, withdrawal of consent, restriction or objection, nomination of another person to act for you, or to make a complaint. Write to info@mountaingeeks.co.in or use https://mountaingeeks.co.in/contact.html. We may ask for proportionate verification. If you are not satisfied, contact our Grievance Officer and then the Data Protection Board of India.

ElectConnect users can delete their account at Profile → Settings → Delete Account, or via [INSERT PUBLIC HTTPS URL FOR ACCOUNT DELETION]. Deleting an account is separate from requesting correction or deletion of a voter record.

Elect Pro is for adults. Users must be 18 or older, and workers must not record details of anyone under 18.

10. Demonstrations, changes and applicable law

A demonstration does not imply endorsement or affiliation with any party, candidate or authority, and should use synthetic data where practicable. We may update this policy and will show a revised date and notify significant changes in the app. This policy operates under the laws of India, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
